Kevin Smith will write Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles, a five-issue limited comic series with art by David Marquez that launches in January 2027, Entertainment Weekly reports. The crossover brings Star Wars icons Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia into Earth-616, where Marvel heroes including Captain America, Black Widow, Spider-Man, and the Hulk witness the events of A New Hope on Earth after a reality-shattering spell. Marvel villains led by Doctor Doom will pair with Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire in the story, according to the series logline. The event is described as the first official crossover between the Star Wars and Marvel universes and will anchor the Star Wars franchise inside Marvel’s primary continuity. Smith thanked Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm for trusting him with the project, and the series will run as a five-part miniseries beginning January 2027.

wasnt this a patton oswalt bit from a TV sitcom, where the whole point of the joke was that the crossover sounded tedious and awful

Sweet! I don't know why some people are being overly critical, but it's nice that a diehard fan of both Marvel and Star Wars is tackling this.

Leaving aside the whole WHY of it, the empire was canonically EXTREMELY racist against nonhumans, so them teaming up with Thanos, Venom, and Ultron is hilariously bad writing. Doom makes sense.

Esto es como mezclar helado de chocolate y lasaña, solos están muy ricos pero juntos...

Only way for all of this to make sense if it was some all powerful cosmic being that was a child playing with reality as if they were its toys. THAT logic I can buy at least. Otherwise... its like DC/Power Rangers, DC/Hanna Barbera, DC/Looney Tunes, DC/Godzilla (oh yeah, Marvel did that one too)
