US nonfarm payrolls fall by 23,000 in July
CNBC on the July jobs report: "Minus -- minus! -- 23,000 on non-farm payrolls. That would be the second worst number of the year ... revisions -- another whopper! Minus 103,000 ... average hourly earnings -- big miss!"
97.4% of all net jobs added from 1989 through early 2024 occurred while Democratic presidents were in office.
The WH is gonna roll out this Chad soon to spin the hell out of this mess.
Remember earlier this week when Trump gave himself an A+ for the economy?
Crazy that this'll be Biden's fault
This so called ‘golden age’ is more of a gilded age. The top 0.1% getting richer, and everyone else suffering. Something similar happened in late 18th century France. They cured it.
Small businesses have been feeling this for at least a year. We’ve been hit first and hardest but no one is listening.
“Minus 23,000 jobs” is a weird way to spell “economic boom.”
yippie! we're doing stagflation again! the 70s are back, bb.
Say it with me folks Stagflation!!!!
We have the hottest country. So hot that the numbers are 🔥. Well, we're setting the economy on fire anyway...
Last time the US had as few people participating in the labor market was in February 2021. Unemployment seems to hold steady because more and more people have given up on employment? fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CIVPART
I watched this all the way through to the end. You have to go back to May, 2020, when we were locked down by the pandemic, to find a lower labor force participation rate than what Trump & Vance have produced with their destruction of the economy.
Bonfire of the Working Class
Who didn't see this coming?
We got gold-plated horses, though.
The real headline metric from this jobs report is the waning wage growth, with the increase in average hourly earnings (+3.2%) continuing to fall below inflation (+3.5%), which means real incomes are continuing to shrink as purchasing power falls. We are currently hurdling toward stagflation.
“.. First decline in nonfarm payrolls since February.” Schwab #NFP
Apparently an economy can't live on data centers, crypto, and private prisons alone.
Given the economy he was handed and the investment boom due to AI it takes some really impressive fucking up to be where we are.
“BLS delivers, Baby!” He makes all those calls to Warsh How many calls does he make to BLS? Hint: “I just need you to find me 11,780 votes” Wait til we get the unexpected cooler CPI next week “See, we don’t need to hike rates. There’s no inflation” Count on it
Kevin hASSett with his lies and smirk in 3...2...1
And of course this is still likely an undercount of jobs lost since Trump's war on numbers. Just suffice it to say that even with doctored numbers by whoever's running the Bureau of Labor Statistics his "best month" for job growth was nowhere near Biden's average month.
When does the current BLS chief get canned? In fact, when do they start reporting no jobs numbers at all?
THE GOLDEN AGE!!! U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 23,000 jobs in July www.cnbc.com/2026/08/07/j...
“Unexpectedly” is doing a lot of work here.
I just don't quite understand how people expected horrible things like the war in the Gulf and the blockage of Hormuz to go on forever and the markets would keep pretending like our special boy was doing okay and none of it would ever impact anybody.
Will you settle for gold leaf on statues?
They keep saying unexpectedly as if we don’t expect it
