81st anniversary of Hiroshima atomic bombing
Today is the 81st anniversary of the nuclear bombing of #Hiroshima. Yet despite the gut wrenching horror, the 9 nuclear states have *already* amassed the equivalent firepower of 145.000 Hiroshima bombs & still want more. This is madness. #NoMoreHiroshimas @cnduk.bsky.social
Went there in 2016, had goosebumps stepping off the tram outside the dome. Still gives me goosebumps now. I also saw thousands of paper cranes in display cabinets outside. From children all over the world. And discovered the story of Sadako Sasaki.
It is abhorrent. It is also reality. What is the plan for disarmament? Israel, North Korea, Pakistan and India, let alone Russia and China have absolutely zero intention to disarm. And nor does the US even under the democrats. France too given that part of its doctrine is the warning shot
£23 billion spent on Trident, and another £3 billion annually in ongoing operation and maintenance cost.
We need a nuclear-free world, but with Putin and Trump in charge of the two biggest nuclear arsenals, it is hard to see how we get there.
One thing always puzzled me: USA actually used The Bomb on a country about to capitulate... and we're supposed to TRUST the USA?
The 145,000 Hiroshima-sized nuclear bombs is supposed to be a nuclear deterrant, but with people like putin and trump in the world, this is very worrying indeed.
Our stupidity with echo throughout history...if we avoid the self-inflicted 6th MASS-EXTINCTION 🤦♂️ We thought early humans were 'primative'. I don't think we have come as far as we think we have, insanely repeating the same mistakes over and over again, an incredible humiliation of the human race.
Yo this T-shirt absolutely rules and you get to support the tireless work of CND cndukstore.com/product/hiro...
And it is America that has walked away from the ABM treaty the INF Treaty & The New Start Treaty
When one state had two Hirohima-sized bombs, it used them. When 9 states have the equivalent of 145,000, they go unused. We have not uninvented nuclear weapons, but we have done the next-best thing; we have made their use so undesirable as to be unthinkable.
US-occupied vassal state Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi commemorated the 81st Anniversary of the US’ use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima. Without once mentioning the United States, the perpetrator that killed hundreds of thousands of her own people.
Who did it? Russians? The Galactic Empire? Martians? If you’re watching this as a young Japanese child, you wouldn’t know thanks to the perpetual trembling cowardice of Japan’s leaders, who are permanently in a state of kneeling before Washington since 1945.
Is that bulletproof glass? 😳
Anniversary of the Hiroshima bomb. I don’t want a discussion about whether it was right or wrong. I have an opinion, yours may be different. But I will link to this which subtly links the horror of one thing to another. youtu.be/xO60RohuARY?...
Whenever I hear this monologue it makes me put down whatever I'm holding at the time.
I did a bang average essay at polytechnic about the reasons for the use of atomic weapons on Japan and which was most important. #mundane
Dunno if it was right or wrong either. I only know my dad (21) was on a UK RN ship in the Forgotten Fleet en route to start a Japanese D-Day style operation & he & his shipmates returned home alive. I don't celebrate the death of the Japanese civilians but that sliding door allowed me to be born.
