Alec Burleson hit three home runs as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Yankees 13-7 in the Bronx, with Burleson providing a two-run homer in the eighth and two homers in that inning as part of a 10-homer night between the teams. Junior Caminero launched two homers noted as his 37th and 38th homers with an 80+ mph bat speed since the start of last season, 10 more than any other player in that span. Derek Hill hit a go-ahead grand slam, his ninth, to give the Philadelphia Phillies a 4-3 lead over the Washington Nationals in the bottom of the seventh. Bryce Harper hit his 24th home run, a 433-foot drive off Clayton Beeter that extended Philadelphia’s advantage. Kevin Alcántara hit his first homer, a fly ball to left-center that scored Dansby Swanson on August 3. Carson Kelly homered to left to score Alex Bregman and push the Cubs to a 6-3 lead over the Dodgers in the bottom of the third. Matt Olson homered for a third straight game, and Jung Hoo Lee hit his sixth homer for the Giants, rounding out a slate heavy with multi-run blasts.
