The New York Yankees have acquired first baseman/infielder Luis García Jr. from the Washington Nationals, multiple reports led by Joel Sherman of the New York Post say. García, 26, is hitting .283/.313/.560 with 23 home runs and leads the National League in slugging percentage, and is under club control through the 2027 season, according to reports. Multiple outlets report the Nationals will receive a package of pitchers in return, naming Ben Grable, Yovanny Cruz, Jack Cebert and Jake Bird as the players headed to Washington. Mark Feinsand and other beat writers confirmed the deal after initial reporting that the Yankees were closing in on García. The trade fills New York’s need for a left-handed power bat while sending pitching depth and prospects to the Nationals.
