Bird of the Day is running the theme Egrets And Herons, inviting any egret or heron with an alternate theme of Yellow. Submissions are mostly field portraits and action shots: fishing grey herons in harbors and mudflats, great blue herons posing on lakeshore boulders, and snowy and little egrets showing off breeding plumes or wing-shake displays. The gallery also includes juvenile green herons, a tricolored heron, and Yellow-theme posts such as a sulphur-crested cockatoo and a goldfinch. Look for bright white egrets set against dark forest edges, herons mid-landing or fishing, and the occasional humorous captioned portrait.
