Bird of the Day is a daily community theme; today’s prompt is #MultiColour, birds with three or more colours in their plumage, with an alternate theme of #DucksOutOfWater. Gallery entries feature colourful garden and field photos, wildlife shots from travel, and several ducks photographed off the water. Notable examples include a Blue and Yellow Macaw spotted in Costa Rica, a Mandarin duck shown out of water, and multiple goldfinch and mallard images, plus a wood duck that fits both themes.

The wings are brown at the base becoming silvery at the ends with black and orange spots. It looks very silvery in flight.

Photograph taken of a clear, frameless, hexagon glass hourglass containing tiny gold beads. The hourglass is against the corner of two walls - one deep blue, the other white. The gold beads flow through in line with the corner. The amount of gold beads is much greater in the top section of the hourglass but a small pile is collecting at the bottom. The image is cut off before you see the very top or bottom of the object. There are some reflections of light on the edges of the hourglass. Taken ten minutes ago in the kitchen balanced on a mat. Used a vibrant filter to really enhance the colour contrasts - white, blue and gold. Have a version using a monochrome filter too but really liked the popping colours of this. Concept of passing time does feel a little heavy at the moment as loved ones are approaching new periods in their life and my role in all of that is changing. Lucky to be involved and blessed to have them 😊
