Sam Kerr equalizes as Gotham FC draws 2-2 with Portland

Sam Kerr scored her first NWSL regular-season goal since 2019 to level Gotham FC 2-2 with the Portland Thorns in Friday night's match. The game finished 2-2 after Portland defender Jayden Perry received a red card in the 73rd minute. Portland activated forward Morgan Weaver from the season-ending injury list and she was available for selection for the match, her first appearance since November 2024. Gotham defender Emily Sonnett was stretchered off around the 10th minute with an apparent left knee injury. Observers noted Kerr added to her NWSL regular-season goal tally, marking a return to the scoresheet after nearly seven years. The draw left Gotham atop the table for the moment while Portland managed a draw at home despite playing down to ten players.
