Vancouver stunt performer Devyn Dalton, who stands four feet six inches tall, served as Matt Damon’s stunt double in Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey, doubling him in a key sequence featuring the Laestrygonians. Damon told interviewer Josh Horowitz that Nolan used forced perspective for the giants scenes and called Dalton "a female stunt performer who had the greatest arms I have ever seen." Dalton told CBC she began performing at age nine and has more than 80 stunt and acting credits, credits she said helped land the Odyssey job. The production used extensive hair, makeup and costume teams to transform Dalton into a miniature version of Damon, and Dalton studied sword fighting before wearing armour on set. Dalton said she trains year-round as a stunt performer and credited earlier female stunt performers for opening opportunities she now enjoys. Now working on a "top secret" project in New Zealand, Dalton said she hopes her visibility will shine a light on stunt actors and inspire young girls about strength and body image.
