Elon Musk says store-bought tomatoes taste better than home-grown
Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything. Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.
At one point she notes that AfD, the German political party that Musk supports, has "real neo-Nazis." Musk literally just shrugs.
Amazing how he picks up little bits of almost every discussion on the internet and then regurgitates those pieces back incorrectly and without context
There has never been a grocery store tomato as good as one fresh off the vine. Fuckwitted fascist sharting his "ideas" all over the place.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was looking and looking. I think it's emblematic of musk being completely unaware of the real world.
The richest man in the world isn’t interesting. He’s not insightful. He’s not thoughtful. He’s not funny. He’s not charismatic. He’s a deeply lonely, shockingly boring, narcissistic monster freak.
This a fucker desperate to get his stock back up. He's not selling Teslas, his AI is for dorks, and his whole fortune is now dependent on robots that have Grok installed that can go harvest minerals on Mars or some bullshit.
This is all another sign of Joyce Carol Oates’ epic takedown of Elon Musk is fundamentally true. Imagine becoming a gazillionaire and not being able to appreciate that eating a perfect backyard tomato mid-summer is the peak of satisfaction and joy. Elon Musk is bankrupt of joy.
First of all, the average backyard tomato is way better than what you can get at the store. Elon doesn’t know that because he has no friends. Second, I’m growing tomatoes that I would love to share with him at a velocity of my choosing.
Among all the things Musk does not understand (which are numerous), macroeconomics ranks high on the list. He also insists inflation is only caused by the issuance of new currency.
It feels very unfair that we no longer have a social media platform where we can tell him to kill himself
Spoken like a man who's never had to prepare his own food in his life.
bro WHAT??????? this man has clearly never tasted joy in his life. homegrown tomatoes are on a whole other level from store bought. Like i didn't even think i LIKED tomatoes until i started growing my own. I know this is like the least important thing he thinks but bro get a grip
As someone in New Jersey, the place most credited with introducing tomatoes to Italian American cuisine: The fuck you say. The only reason I'll tolerate that slander of home plot heirloom tomatoes is because I hope that man's tomatoes are always as watery and soft as store bought.
Among the many reasons this is stupid is my homegrown tomatoes are better than storebought. Also, when is the last time that man went to a grocery store?
Baby's first post-scarcity, through the lens of someone who is only excited about not having to pay workers, and hasn't thought for a second how those workers are supposed to survive if they don't have an income. No take, only throw.
"Your belief in deliciousness is wrong, citizen. What you taste in a garden tomato is merely an illusion brought on by your time and attention. Game theory says you are experiencing a willful loss-avoidance hallucination, not a true understanding of flavor or value. I am very smart."
Musk insisting storebought tomatoes are better than homegrown tomatoes is the most perfect distillation of how ignorant he is of daily human life and the small joys therein.
No one has ever loved Elon Musk enough to grow and share tomatoes with him. That is the headline.
I wept when I had my first heirloom tomato BLT of the year from the garden. I can’t ever imagine having so much money I couldn’t enjoy such a simple pleasure.
Bet he prefers Red Delicious apples over, well any other apple with flavor and pleasant texture.
It's very on brand for the white supremacist POS to judge the quality of tomatoes by their "pristine" appearance rather than their flavor and nutrition.
Dude can only experience ‘joy' if he's extracting it from the lives of others.
There’s some inner sci fi nerd in me that longs for a Star Trek like utopia, but none of these fucks that preach like it’s coming are doing anything to usher it in and are hoarding instead. He’s got Twitter and boosts racists and funds fascists not proponents of UBI.
He's a mass murderer, drug addict, lying, dead beat dad, sex pest, trust fund idiot and coward that begged to be in epstein's circle, why do we keep thinking anything he says is worth our precious time on this earth
One of the most universally known truths is that grocery store tomatoes are not worth eating and everyone waits for the farmer's markets or the friends with vines in summer for their BLTs (of course now just BTs -- what with lettuce trying to kill us.
"Musk insisted backyard tomatoes weren’t as good as those you can buy from the store, but people still do it anyway. That would be news to anyone who’s had a delicious backyard tomato, which frequently tastes much better." What kind of human thinks a store tomato is better than a backyard tomato?
This is 100% the most batshit thing he says here.
Yard tomato is always going to be better, it's harvested when it's ripe, instead of before it's fully ripe to make sure it lasts in the store. Your only other good option is a local farmers market or farm stand, and let's be real, Elon Musk doesn't even know what a farm is.
I’ve got a feeling that he has no idea what “from the store” means.
Locally grown tomatoes are THE driving force behind farmers markets. People buy lots of other stuff but they come for the tomatoes. Of course, he's never been to a farmers market.
Guy Clark had it right in his song: "Only two things that money can't buy And that's true love and homegrown tomatoes." Explains a lot about Musk.
This might be the single maddest thing he’s ever said: “Musk insisted backyard tomatoes weren’t as good as those you can buy from the store”
He’s gonna program Grok to insist this is true, isn’t he
claiming he doesn't care that people hate him is a close runner-up
i’m presuming he never ate either.
To be fair he’s the kind of guy whose so dumb that he couldn’t grow something as easy as a tomato if he tried.
To be fair he probably shops at special trillionaire stores and can't garden for shit.
Elon Musk is very dumb but tomatoes from the store *are* going to be better than the tomatoes you grow yourself 95-ish percent of the time
I mean, if you don’t manage to grow the tomato yes, but otherwise, extremely no
get mad at me all you want, but early August is in fact only about 5% (yes, *fine*, it rounds to 4%) of the time
I agree, and I also wonder whether this is something that largely wasn't true at some point within living memory, e.g. due to supply chain refinements and/or better ag science
