King Charles III and Queen Camilla stepped out of a TARDIS-themed prop at the opening ceremony for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games at The Hydro. The event, presided over by Charles in his role as Head of the Commonwealth, kicked off while competition had already started earlier with bowls and para-bowls. The Games will feature about 3,000 athletes from 74 nations, and organisers scheduled gymnastics and swimming for the following day. The ceremony included distinctly Scottish touches and headline moments intended to showcase culture ahead of several days of competition across multiple venues.
