Olive Garden requires photo ID for Never-Ending Pasta Pass

foodJul 21, 2026976,900

Olive Garden requires passholders to present a valid photo ID matching the name printed on its Never-Ending Pasta Pass when ordering, saying the passes are personalized and non-transferable. The restaurant posted the rule to its account on X, describing the ID check as required at the time of ordering. The policy sparked conservative commentators and Republican officials to compare the requirement to state voting rules, with Robby Starbuck and Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita posting objections and Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Arizona Rep. Eli Crane urging passage of the SAVE America Act, which would impose federal voter ID and citizenship verification. A White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson, said Olive Garden enforces its Pasta Pass security more strictly than Democrats enforce election security. Fourteen states and Washington, D.C., do not require most voters to present identification when voting in person, a fact cited in commentary. President Donald Trump urged Congressional passage of the SAVE Act during a national address the same day commentators amplified the Olive Garden policy as evidence in that debate.

Scalise: "Anybody that gets on an airplane has to show a picture ID to vote. Nowadays, if you want to go to Olive Garden and get unlimited pasta, you gotta show a picture ID. This isn't complicated stuff."

I have opinions about Steve Scalise that are perfectly legal to express but, unfortunately, the moderators of this website think are inappropriate. (One wonders what the point of the First Amendment is, these days)

Voting is a Constitutionally-protected *right,* dimbulb. Airplane rides and unlimited breadsticks aren’t.

You can have a perfect passport, birth certificate, and driver’s license, but none of them will absolutely prove you are who you say you are when they’ve already decided you’re not.

1. The bill does MUCH more than this, and you can't simply provide your ID under the SAVE ACT...This is BAD FAITH from Mr. Scalise 2. The bill also forces the states to turn over voter data to the Federal Government, & forces people registering to vote to provide birth certificates or a passport

Imma go the Olive Garden and try this…

And you need a picture ID to shop at grocery store, according to people who never shop at a grocery store.

How come there is NEVER anyone in the crowd yelling NO YOU DO NOT tile THATS A LIE when someone says something as fucking stupid as this? I’m not a big Olive Garden fan, but what the shit? Why are they catching a political stray for breadsticks?

If this is the comparison then I should be able to vote unlimited times also. 🤷‍♂️

You have to show ID to get Explosive Diarrhea?

If you pay $100, Olive Garden gives you a pass with your name on it to let you have endless pasta for 13 weeks. They ask for ID so you don't let everyone use the pass. When you vote, no one else can vote as you. It's a stupid analogy, and now they're making it sound like you're carded for penne.
