The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal that sends former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher to the Dallas Mavericks and sends three future second-round picks to OKC, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and reporting compiled by SBNation. The full breakdown: Hawks receive Lu Dort and Ryan Nembhard, Mavericks receive Zaccharie Risacher, and the Thunder receive three future second-rounders including a 2027 second from the Chicago Bulls (via Dallas) plus 2031 and 2032 most-favorable seconds from Atlanta. SBNation reports the Thunder saved about $224 million in luxury tax and payroll this season by moving Dort, Aaron Wiggins, and Isaiah Joe and are now below the NBA’s second apron; the deal also creates financial flexibility that could open an extension opportunity for Cason Wallace. Dort is on an expiring $18.2 million contract for 2026, 27, which preserves Hawks cap flexibility; SBNation notes Atlanta projects to have more than $40 million in cap space next season. Atlanta’s front office under Onsi Saleh framed the move as adding a tenacious perimeter defender to pair with Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, while Dallas is taking a flier on Risacher after the former top pick was not in Atlanta’s long-term plans. Lu Dort was the longest-tenured Thunder player. His signing was 4 days before The Paul George Trade was official, though he’d agreed to the deal on draft night. In some ways, he’s a relic from the old days. Brought in with PG and Russ in mind. Became a core piece of a rebuilt core.

This is a little bit of a spicy take I suppose. If you redrafted the 2024 draft, obviously Risacher does not go first overall. I think most people would say you take Stephon Castle, but I think I'd take Donovan Clingan.
