Swiss rider Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla) won Stage 13 of the Tour de France on Friday, July 17, outsprinting Colombia's Harold Tejada (Astana) after a two-man finish in Belfort. The 205 km stage from Dole to Belfort was the longest of this Tour and produced Schmid's first Tour stage victory. Schmid and Tejada broke clear from a 10-rider lead group with 16 kilometres to go and cooperated until the final kilometre, where Tejada launched first and Schmid hauled him back to edge the sprint. Briton Tom Pidcock finished third, two seconds behind, and collected four bonus seconds; Pidcock moved up six places in the general classification to fourth overall and sits 4 minutes 15 seconds behind race leader Tadej Pogacar and nine seconds off Remco Evenepoel in third. The main peloton arrived 7 minutes 32 seconds after Schmid. Earlier in the stage 57 riders had escaped from the peloton and built a lead of over eight minutes as green jersey contenders contested intermediate sprint points.
