International Non-Binary People’s Day was observed on July 14, a day first celebrated in 2012 by Katje van Loon and chosen because it falls precisely midway between International Men’s Day and International Women’s Day. The day aims to raise awareness and organize around issues faced by non-binary people worldwide, and Non-Binary Awareness Week runs the week beginning the Monday before July 14 during Pride Month. The Open Siddur Project notes a prayer for International Non-Binary People’s Day by Rabbi Lior Bar-Ami that was first offered sometime before May 2024. Social posts marked the day with greetings, personal survival and coming-out stories, artwork, and visibility posts from non-binary creators and allies. Community-focused activities this year included a Nonbinary Coded Games showcase on Steam and creators sharing resources and portfolios to highlight non-binary work. Observances combined cultural celebration with practical visibility and sharing opportunities, giving non-binary creators specific platforms to show work and share resources.
