Bird of the Day, theme 'Butt Shotts'

Bird of the Day is a daily community photo event with the main theme #ButtShotts, where contributors post birds showing their rear, and an alternate theme #OpenBeaks for birds with open beaks. Today's gallery features playful rear-view portraits and vocal moments, from closeup butt shots and coy over-the-shoulder poses to singing and squawking birds. Concrete examples include a dwarf kingfisher from India and a puffin posterior, a ruby-throated hummingbird pictured showing its rear while its beak is open, and a royal tern basking on Sanibel Island alongside a great blue heron squawking while fishing. Look for peacocks, a Black-necked Grebe at Clot Del Galvany Spain, and multiple twofer posts combining butt shots with open-beak images under the hashtags #ButtShotts and #OpenBeaks.

Helped get an injured Royal Tern to a bird rescue last October.. Siesta Key, FL Had something jacked with its wing, walked right up to us and followed us walking as close as it could... So we called it some help
