Brendon McCullum sacked as England Test coach

Brendon McCullum has been removed as England men's Test head coach after four years in charge, though he will remain England's white-ball head coach. The England and Wales Cricket Board said "we now believe that the time is right to make a change for the Test team as we target victory in the Ashes next summer." The decision was announced during the historic first women's Test at Lord's, a timing criticised publicly by World Cup winner Alex Hartley. England's next men's Test, against Pakistan in August, will be led by new management rather than McCullum. Several commentators framed the move as the end of the "Bazball" red-ball era that McCullum helped establish.
