Bird of the Day, theme 'Amongtheripples'

Today’s Bird of the Day event is themed AmongTheRipples, birds on water, with an alternate theme BestSideEye. Contributors are sharing waterfowl and seabirds among ripples and reflections plus birds giving skeptical side glances, often in sunrise or misty light. Standouts include an Eider duckling diving for seaweed in the harbour, a great blue heron standing in a misty river at sunrise, and Atlantic Puffins captured on Westray showing sharp side-eye expressions. Look for cygnets making ripples with their beaks, Herring Gulls in rock pools, and coots and mallards caught mid-current under the AmongTheRipples tag.
