Ariana Grande withdraws from American Horror Story Season 13

Ariana Grande has left American Horror Story season 13 because of scheduling conflicts with her Eternal Sunshine tour, Variety has learned. The departure comes after FX released a first look at season 13, which reunites Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and Leslie Grossman. Grande had been announced as joining the cast and the role would have been her AHS debut while reuniting her with creator Ryan Murphy and with Roberts and Lourd after their 2015 Scream Queens appearance. In a November interview with Variety Grande said she expected to have a small part and that she had received a “very exciting text message” from Murphy but could not share details. FX and 20th Television declined to comment on Grande’s departure, and Variety reached out to Grande’s representatives. With Grande off the project, production will proceed with the announced returning cast and the recently released season 13 first-look materials.
