Kyle Schwarber will compete in the Home Run Derby Monday night at Citizens Bank Park, joining Philadelphia teammate Bryce Harper in the field, the Phillies announced. This will be the first Home Run Derby held at Citizens Bank Park and the first time teammates have competed since Schwarber and Javy Báez represented the Chicago Cubs in 2018. Harper defeated Schwarber in the 2018 final at Nationals Park. Schwarber leads the majors with 32 home runs and has hit 219 homers since joining the Phillies. Schwarber broke a tie in last year’s All-Star Game with a dramatic swing-off. Schwarber is expected to have a Phillies coach throw to him, while Harper will have Los Angeles Dodgers third-base coach Dino Ebel throw, according to MLB.com. Only two Phillies have won the derby: Bobby Abreu in 2005 and Ryan Howard in 2006.
