I hope they take the opportunity to highlight what a dumbfuck Pa was and how the family constantly was constantly on the edge of death from illness, crop failure, and extreme weather. Just really lean into how horrible homesteading actually was and is to kill people's romanticism.

Because the stories elide the government’s role in the colonization of the west, it is libertarian propaganda. The reiteration of the pioneer myth in Little House, whether books or series, overlooks and glorifies our genocidal past. I can see why Netflix thinks Trump’s America would want this.

I am giving the first episode of Little House on the Prairie a try. I am annoyed that Little House in the Big Woods always gets skipped, because it was my favorite. Little House on the Prairie was my least favorite of the series.
