Kyle Fletcher defeated Konosuke Takeshita at the Beach Break edition of AEW Dynamite to capture the AEW International Championship. Fletcher scored a clean finish after a running corner kick and a second brain buster that secured the pinfall. Takeshita wrestled much of the match with a lingering arm injury that hindered his offense and opened the door for Fletcher’s finishing sequence; Takeshita had previously kicked out of an earlier thrust kick and first brain buster. The title change ends Takeshita’s 45-day reign; he won the belt at Double or Nothing in May by defeating Kazuchika Okada. This is Fletcher’s first reign as AEW International Champion, his first championship victory since his second TNT Championship run ended in April, and brings his total to three different AEW titles. The result reshapes the Don Callis Family dynamic and sends Takeshita back toward New Japan Pro-Wrestling, where he holds the NJPW World Television Championship and is scheduled to compete in this month’s G1 tournament.
