Lauren Bennett, the English singer who featured on LMFAO’s global hit "Party Rock Anthem," has died at 37, her former G.R.L. bandmates said in an Instagram statement on Monday July 6. G.R.L. said "our hearts are broken" and asked that she rest peacefully; they added that her "beautiful spirit touched so many lives." Bennett was a founding member of American girl group G.R.L., who rose to prominence with the 2013 track "Vacation" from the Smurfs 2 soundtrack and later featured on Pitbull's 2014 single "Wild Wild Love." She is survived by her daughter Harlow, born in 2019, whom she shared with partner Kenny Wormald. Bennett previously sang with the Paradiso Girls, appeared on a Pussycat Dolls fitness DVD and worked with Robin Antin, and she featured on a remix of Will.i.am's "I Got It From My Mama." G.R.L. originally included Simone Battle, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen; the group dedicated the single "Lighthouse" to Battle after her death at 25 and reunited in June 2016, later touring with S Club Allstars, 5ive and Brovas. Bennett released the solo single "Hurricane" in May 2016, describing the song as reflecting her experience of losing a friend and her mother's mental-health struggles.
