Charles Leclerc wins British Grand Prix at Silverstone

Charles Leclerc won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, claiming his first Formula 1 victory in nearly two years as Ferrari recorded its second win in three races. Leclerc finished ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton after the race ended confusingly under a safety car following a late change of mind by race control. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli suffered a suspension failure while closing on Leclerc and dropped down the order; Antonelli crossed the line ninth but was given a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits and was demoted to 16th. Red Bull's Max Verstappen crashed at Stowe while chasing Hamilton for second, triggering the safety car that promoted Russell to P2 because Mercedes did not pit him when others took fresh tyres. Hamilton faces a post-race investigation for a yellow-flag infringement. The result cuts Antonelli's championship lead over Russell to 25 points, with Hamilton a further seven points behind pending that investigation. The next race is the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps from 17 to 19 July.
