Luis García Jr. hit two home runs, including a 413-foot, 106.0 mph shot off Isaac Mattson, and the Washington Nationals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-5. García’s first homer came off Mitch Keller, a 395-foot line drive with a 111.7 mph exit velocity, giving him his 17th and 18th homers of the season. Daylen Lile also homered twice in the game, marking the second time this season both players had multi-homer games (also May 12). Washington has scored 26 runs over the last 20 innings, won five of six games, and leads MLB with 479 runs through 89 games while improving to 46-43. Starter Foster Griffin now has a 2.87 ERA after the outing. García has nine homers in his last 13 games, a key factor in the Nationals’ recent surge.
