I firmly believe that no one would be complaining about the "woke" casting in The Odyssey if Christian Bale was playing Ulysses.

Spent the morning interviewing Chris Nolan and his cast about The Odyssey. Remind me of this incredible privilege next time I moan about some trivial nonsense.

Skipping out on influencers? Christopher Nolan is delulu and gonna regret all the hot gos they would have posted about how lit The Odyssey was and how it was the opposite of 6-7 with how much Odysseus no cap ate and left no crumbs.

THE ODYSSEY is "Rated R for violence and some language." That's good, because the last thing I wanna see is any more fuckin' directed by Christopher Nolan. (Fake horse filled with boxes of Trojans runs Odie over.)

I know what he means, I do. But you have to admit it's a *tiny* bit funny to talk about audiences wanting something new when your next movie is The Odyssey. The Epic of Gilgamesh out here catching strays.

So I'm teaching a 7-week World Literature course starting next week, and I just realized we'll be covering (excerpts from) Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey the same week the Nolan movie comes out which I totally didn't plan for but is pretty cool actually.

"Yes, 'The Odyssey' is one of the oldest stories ever told, but a Christopher Nolan movie whose hero is haunted by memories of their *living* wife!? It’s the multiplex equivalent of Dylan going electric."

My main concern with The Odyssey is that I do not believe Nolan is enough of a freak to pull Greek Mythology off.

Surprised that no other major film has decided to pair its release with The Odyssey. Moana could have marketed itself as the alternative aquatic-wanderer-who-meets-a-god-film.

Man having a hobby interest in the Bronze Age is really fun leading up to this Odyssey film.
