Anime Expo 2026, Manga Mavericks announces three new manga

At its Anime Expo 2026 panel, Manga Mavericks Books announced three English-language manga licenses that will arrive in the first half of 2027. The gag comedy MOTIONLESS by Quick Obake, published in Japan by TWO VIRGINS, is a 208-page color A5 standalone scheduled for print and digital release in February 2027 with an SRP of $9.99 and ISBN 9781968054717; Quick Obake provided a message to convention attendees and has built a social following for a “GIF Manga” style. The classic shojo fantasy THE SWORD OF PAROS by Kaoru Kurimoto and Yumiko Igarashi, originally a 3-volume 1986 manga and published in Japan by FAIRBELL, will be released in April 2027 as a deluxe hardcover omnibus in JIS B5 size with spot gloss cover and sprayed edges; it is 580 pages, rated 13+, ISBN 9781968054588, print SRP $54.99 and digital SRP $13.99. The action hero HERO COMPANY by Kazuhiko Shimamoto, from HERO’S INC., will be published in a 2-in-1 omnibus print and digital format beginning in June 2027. Manga Mavericks said these titles will be added to its catalog in early 2027, and print pre-orders for MOTIONLESS are already available through the publisher’s store. Each announcement included concrete release formats and schedules that set retail timing and collector editions for fans and retailers next year.

There's something wonderfully full circle in this, considering the director of publishing at Kodansha USA, Ben Applegate, got into the manga business in part because of the kickstarter program he helped put together at DMP for other Tezuka classics. There's no doubt this is in wise, patient hands.
