Nottingham Forest confirmed on July 2 that they have parted ways with head coach Vítor Pereira after a tenure of under five months. The club also announced the sale of midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for about £116 million, a fee the Nottingham Post says makes Anderson the most expensive English player in history, eclipsing Declan Rice's £105 million move. Forest said formalities for Anderson’s transfer will be completed when he returns from England duty at the FIFA World Cup and that the club will pay tribute to his contribution at an appropriate later date. The Nottingham Post reports Anderson completed a medical in Kansas ahead of the move and that City and Forest reached agreement while he is on international duty. Forest signed Anderson from Newcastle United in summer 2024 for a net £15 million after a swap that valued him at £35 million and sent goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos the other way for £20 million. Swedish outlet Fotbolltransfers reports Oliver Glasner is expected to replace Pereira as head coach, with local reporting and club messaging framing Anderson’s departure and the managerial change as the club’s immediate priorities.
