Canada to debut at Eurovision Song Contest 2027

musicJul 1, 2026532,401

The European Broadcasting Union and CBC/Radio‑Canada announced that Canada will make its Eurovision Song Contest debut at the 2027 contest in Bulgaria. CBC/Radio‑Canada became a full EBU Member, enabling Canada to enter the competition; organisers said this is the first new country to join the line-up since Australia in 2015 and will expand participation to the Americas for the first time. Non-European countries have competed before, with Israel and Australia regularly taking part and Morocco competing in 1980. Observers noted an immediate practical consequence: Canada’s membership gives the country a vote in EBU matters and could affect internal discussions and campaigns around participation and boycotts going forward. Broadcaster and selection details, and Canada’s chosen artist, have not yet been announced; those decisions are expected in the months before the 2027 contest.
