Supreme Court refuses Trump's appeal in E. Jean Carroll case

writersJun 29, 2026995,362

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear President Donald Trump’s appeal of a civil jury verdict that found he sexually abused and defamed writer E. Jean Carroll, leaving a $5 million judgment in her favor intact. Carroll has said since 2019 that Trump sexually assaulted her in a New York department store dressing room in the mid-1990s. The court’s refusal ends Trump’s bid to overturn the 2023 jury finding and the associated damages award. Carroll’s lawyer Roberta Kaplan said the decision “ends [Trump’s] quest to avoid accountability for his actions.” With the high court passing, Trump now has the legal obligation to pay the $5 million civil judgment to Carroll.

Your now-regular reminder that nothing in the Constitution actually gives the Supreme Court control over its docket, shadow or otherwise, & until the Wizards In Robes start following the law & Constitution again, the next Congress should fix this & all the other pure norms: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Has Trump in his life ever won a lawsuit cleanly, as Carroll has?

"Der Oberste Gerichtshof nimmt sechs neue Fälle für die nächste Sitzungsperiode an und weist unter anderem Trumps Berufung gegen das Urteil im Fall E. Jean Carroll zurück. Das Urteil, ...in dem Trump ...wegen sexuellen Missbrauchs u Verleumdung ... bleibt bestehen."

This SCOTUS, creators of such recent rulings as "the law is what we say it is," "the Handmaid's Tale seems like a lit way to live, actually" and "racism is legal now" have decided that overturning Trump's appeal of the E. Jean Carroll verdict would make them too much of a joke.

President Trump officially confirmed to be a rapist by the US Supreme Court.
