Chris Johnson reveals ALS diagnosis at 39
incredibly sad stuff on Good Morning America as former NFL running back Chris Johnson shares his ALS diagnosis
If they spent as much time and money on this disease as they do on Trump‘s idiotic vanity projects, we’d have a cure.
"A comprehensive study published by the Boston University CTE Center identified 38 NFL players who received a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) between 1960 and 2019. This rate is nearly four times higher than the incidence of ALS in the general U.S. male population."
Oh no. God what a hateful disease.
Oh, man, that's horrible. My sister-in-law lived for seven years or so with ALS, and it was really a shame she lived so long. After 2-4 fairly good years, she was so unhappy, and angry, for the last three. Of course, most people die in 2 or so. But that's hardly good -- read Tony Judt's books on it.
It's an incredibly cruel disease.
My colleague's father got ALS and died within a year. Just brutal. He took care of his dad the whole time. What a sweet man his father was. Horrible horrible disease.
fuck. this disease is always cruel, but feels even more wicked when this guy not that long ago became the human encapsulation for speed and dexterity. peace to him and his family, truly an icon. and if you’re of a certain age, he very well may be the reason why you fell in love with this sport.
Well this was truly awful
Everytime another person announces they have ALS my heart breaks for what they and their loved ones have ahead and sparks my own memories and grief all over again. ALS takes every life it touches but first it steals and tortures. There is no silver lining. Research is the only way to end this.
Support medical research!!! Get rid of anti-science rfkjr who is destroying it
Not one fucking mention of football's ties to ALS. Not. One.
This is heartbreaking. Spontaneous ALS is a freaking nightmare. This is a man who was a 2000 yard rusher and now he can’t move his body. I don’t even know where to begin processing.
ALS can happen to anyone. It's the sad truth. We have to continue to fight it. 😔
I am so sad to hear this. What a generous soul to share his experience with others. 💙😢🙏🏻
CJ2K's only 40 years old, this is devastating
Former NFL star Chris Johnson revealed he has been diagnosed with ALS at 39
FUCK ALS. I hope his progression is slow and he is surrounded in love
NFL owners don't care about players. They use them. They don't care what having a body hammered over and over will cost them long term. I hate the NFL. It's legalized slavery
Oh no. I’m so sorry to hear about this. It’s a terrible diagnosis.
I am so sorry to hear this. I 🙏🏾 they find a cure for ALS.
Horrible-- the kind of thing that makes me stop watching football.
So terribly sad. ALS is such a terrible disease.
There’s a connection between CTE and ALS. “NFL players who developed ALS had a longer average football career (seven years) than those without the disease (4.5 years). Many NFL players were in their mid-30s at the time of their ALS diagnosis. This is quite a bit younger than is typical for ALS.”
only thing that could tackle cj2k :(
One of the best to wear that Titan blue. 😞
wow. life comes at you fast 😕
Man....this is so sad. Prayers up for CJ2K
Former NFL RB Chris Johnson reveals that he is fighting ALS: "I still think the same. I still dream. I still love my family. My body just doesn’t cooperate.”
"He wants people to realize that patients with ALS remain who they used to be. “Your mind stays sharp,” Johnson said. “People sometimes look at the physical disability and assume you’re not still the same person inside. I still think the same. I still dream. I still love my family...”
Tough break for a beast of an athlete i remember CJ2K madness very well
