TCM Party spotlights Madeline Kahn in Young Frankenstein and High Anxiety
And Gene Hackman with the greatest cameo in movie history. #TCMParty #YoungFrankenstein
Greatest? He never even got to make espresso!
You can thank Gene Wilder. According to Mel Brooks book and the Gene Wilder documentary, Wilder and Hackman became friends on the set of Bonnie and Clyde and he convinced him to take the cameo. It was also Gene Hackman's first comedy
His was last in the cast credits. Said simply: Blind man Gene Hackman Word has it, he totally improvised his last line “I was going to make espresso.”
😂 took almost the same exact picture earlier.
When I taught a college course on sf/horror films I would show "Bride of Frankenstein" and then this clip. :)
God I miss Madeleine Kahn. Think of the comedy she could do today with all the material laying around. #TCMParty #YoungFrankenstein
youtu.be/Pdk72Ns6sBE I watch this every once in a while and fall in love with her all over again.
Madeline Kahn and Catherine O'Hara were amazing talents and their brilliance was absolutely magnetic. Two of my all-time favorites.
I miss her too. She was a genius. I also miss Catherine O'Hara. 😭😭
I got to meet her and told her she was one of 4 women I’d try to go straight for. She loved being in the group with Tina Turner, Glynis John’s, and Diana Rigg and said it was the best compliment she ever had. She was a very sweet and shy lady and she is sorely missed!
Truly the star of the film
