Sonny Gray carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning at Fenway Park before Amed Rosario lined a one-out single up the middle to break the bid; Gray departed to a standing ovation after that hit. Gray worked 7 1/3 innings without allowing a hit and recorded his 2,000th career strikeout during the outing. Earlier in the game Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. was ejected after arguing a check-swing call involving Gray. Teammates and fans applauded Gray’s performance as one of his most dominant starts for the Red Sox against the Yankees.
