AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, live PPV from San Jose

entertainmentJun 28, 202653528

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door aired live June 28, 2026, from the SAP Center in San Jose, California, as an interpromotional pay‑per‑view beginning at 8 p.m. ET on HBO Max PPV. The card featured high‑profile cross‑brand bouts including Kenny Omega versus Zack Sabre Jr., a match many observers called a technical masterclass, and a Joshi‑style singles bout between Thekla and Starlight Kid that sources and posts described as intense and decisive for Thekla. The show included a 12‑man tag announced to use a new round steel cage, and a violent sequence in which Bandido appeared with a bloody white mask and an altercation involving Jon Moxley biting Bandido’s face drew medical concern in real time. Darby Allin married his longtime partner Sara the day before the event and still appeared on the card. The event carried traditional cross‑brand title implications and finished its live broadcast with results posted the same night for the June 28 Forbidden Door card.

I always wonder about this too. Also when Mox licked his hand and judged the flavor of Bandido’s blood in real time. 😆 🤢

Having already put in the very hard work of watching and writing about tonight's The Vampire Lestat and House of the Dragon, I'll be catching up on last night's AEW Collision and then (hopefully) tonight's Forbidden Door. But that doesn't mean my heart's not with you
