Former park rangers teach Black history after Trump-era exhibit removal

cultureJun 26, 2026221,733

Former national park rangers organized as the Resistance Rangers are hosting teach-ins to share Black history that the Trump administration removed from federal park exhibits, NPR reports. Kerwin, a former park ranger who helped found the Resistance Rangers, is continuing to teach the removed history even though the building is locked and no exhibits are on display. The removals began after President Trump signed an executive order aimed at "restoring truth and sanity to American history," a move that has prompted lawsuits and protests. Resistance Rangers printed copies of banned pamphlets and say they will bring that information directly to park visitors. Their actions come as the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary and represent a grassroots effort to keep the removed materials accessible on federal land.
