Evidence contradicts RFK Jr. Senate testimony on Samoa 2019 trip

newsJun 25, 202611303

An email from a then-colleague says Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s 2019 trip to Samoa was a vaccine-related "mission," contradicting Kennedy's Senate confirmation testimony that the visit had "nothing to do with vaccines." The message was sent just before the trip, which preceded a late-2019 measles outbreak in Samoa that killed more than 80 people, most of them children. Kennedy repeatedly told senators during his confirmation hearing the Samoa visit was unrelated to vaccines; the newly disclosed email places the trip's stated purpose in direct conflict with that testimony. The disclosure has prompted scrutiny from observers and could prompt congressional investigators or ethics officials to examine whether Kennedy misled the Senate or otherwise misstated material facts during his hearing.
