Retail listings at Amazon, Walmart and Target show Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as 'Code in Box' preorders that will contain only a download code rather than a disc, with the base retail edition listed at $79.99 and deluxe or Ultimate editions reaching $100. Rockstar's product details and a press release say boxed copies will appear in stores early on November 12 to enable preloading and will include "a download code inside the box" instead of physical media. Because boxed purchases require activation through console storefronts, buyers will not receive removable media they can resell or lend, a change that channels sales through PlayStation and Xbox digital services and reduces the used-game market for a major AAA launch.

Whats the point of pre-orders now days? I see none. Pre-order used to mean something, you payed ahead to reserve your copy at the store so you could go in a be sure you could get it on day one without worrying about it being sold out. I see no point in a pre-order for online key and download.

Code in box? What's the point of buying GTAVI physically when there are no discs, and you need to download the full game, anyway? I'd rather see Rockstar charge $100 to cover the 4 Blu-Rays instead of doing this crap. Making this a pre-order in its current form is an absolute joke.
