Milly Alcock praised in Supergirl reviews
Early reviews single out Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El as Supergirl's standout, praising her punky, emotionally grounded performance that carries the film. Critics applaud the movie's visuals, some action set pieces, and Jason Momoa's Lobo while faulting sluggish pacing, a thin central villain, muddy action, and occasional sexist beats. As a 2026 Supergirl origin and follow-up to last year's Superman within James Gunn's DCU, reviewers say Alcock could anchor the franchise even if this installment struggles to cohere.
SUPERGIRL is good. I wish it were great, especially after SUPERMAN, but muddy action and some surprising sexist bs hold it back. Did I still cry? For sure. Am I so glad she’s here? Yup. Am I ready to watch it again? Immediately. www.thewrap.com/creative-con...
Cat Grant did NOT deliver her “I’m a girl, and your boss, and hot” monologue for us to still be having the “…just girl?” conversation in THE YEAR OF OUR LADY 2026. And in a SUPERGIRL MOVIE.
Seeing it Saturday with tempered expectations. I know Alcock will be great and I am sure it will be a good theatrical experience since I am seeing it in IMAX.
I'm actually considering,...considering mind you, going to a theatre with people in it, to see this. First time since Captain Marvel that there was some excitement about seeing a movie.
"Milly Alcock soars but Supergirl doesn't quite take off and faster than a speeding bullet, James Gunn's DCCU is... um... a bird not a plane... lemme go again: Milly Alcock leaps tall expectations in a single bound, but Craig Gillespie's Supergirl is more spiel than steel... hmm... okay, Milly..."
"You won't need Kryptonite to keep this Supergirl grounded! She was cleared for takeoff but there are problems with this movie's cross-feed fuel valve!"
“Supergirl” *flies* through its runtime thanks to Alcock’s *heraldic heroine,* but story clutter create needless *drag* on an otherwise *soaring spectacle*!
What did Milly Alcock do that the alt-right chuds are so invested in Supergirl failing.
Be a woman. Probably also the film's concept of Kara being a trainwreck party girl instead of a fan service tradwife.
be extremely pretty, but not in the exact way they want her to be
Nothing, these engagement channels needed fresh outrage engagement to keep chuds mad and tuned in.
They’re chasing the high of The Marvels flopping and will be forever
