GTA 6 physical edition will include only a download code
Grand Theft Auto VI is priced at $79.99 / Ultimate Edition $99.99. -Physical version includes a download code inside the box. Preloads begin Nov 12 -Preorders begin at midnight local time PR: www.businesswire.com/news/home/20... Ultimate and preorder bonus info: www.rockstargames.com/VI
For people with issues regarding the price, the trick is to not have much time for games, falling further and further behind in your backlog, to the point that you only buy AAA games six years later for less than 15 bucks.
Before anyone defends rockstar saying “the game is too big” FF7 Rebirth was on two discs and still was $70
Why would I preorder a download code?
Putting the physical tax on a digital-only release is certainly a choice.
Workers unions suffered for this shit
You forget a fate worse than game key cards exist.....
I'll wait for a sale, I've got other games to play
Probably putting a code in a physical box so later they can milk everyone with a real physical edition
Man Rockstar made every bad choice they could huh
No disc during the A.I disaster? I'm good No disc, no buy
Cartridges are more expensive, they said The $70 game will pay workers better & curb macro-microtransactions, they said "Games have to make money at some point", they said Least there's an idea where SOME of that money's going: youtu.be/dnuipPQDd_w
The only reason to buy physical would be an employee discount at a retailer, realistically.
$80 and digital only not worth it but hey morons will defend its price but shit on Nintendo and others for attempting $80
Ultimate edition also includes shops that are only open if you purchase that edition. And Rockstar are going to get away with it because it will bother people (it is me people) that there is content not available in the game I purchased. 🙄
The closer it gets the less I give a shit about it...
Yeah, they can shove that all up in they ass.
I've heard gamers talk 💩 about boycotting this game and that game for a few gens now and overwhelmingly nothing happens. That's not on the companies. That's on gamers. I stopped taking gamers seriously about boycotting years ago bc I know they'll do nothing but complain on social media.
$80 to a $100 for a key code…
I think I have a smidge more respect for game key cards on Switch 2 now Just a smidge
Yea, no, I'm good, ta. 😅
Bank of America is ecstatic rn
Wasn't interested in this game to begin with, but having a download code as the only "physical" option is definitely a choice. If I were interested at all, I would be waiting for a steep discount years later. I have other games to play.
$79.99 ain't bad in comparison to what everyone speculated & feared it would be. But this is just the price of admission which will lower over time. They aren't gonna interfere w/ that & mess with the 💵 they plan to make on the back end. They want ppl playing not outside of it bc retail price.
$80 code in a box…
I'll get it eventually i know, and i'm sure it will be awesome, but nah, I can wait for a sale.
Rockstar says “physical” versions of GTA 6 will contain “a download code inside the box”
Guess they really don't want to see any used copies up on Ebay after two weeks.
Pretty ambitious to think it will only take a week to download
Buying physical has no meaning if it’s just a download code that stops working if something happens to your account or you just want to sell the game. GTA-shills will fight and justify this shit behaviour and worship this piece of shit anti-union company anyway.
I can hear doesitplay exploding from here
and some ingame shops are only open for buyers of the ultimate edition. lol...
Anyways, devil's advocate here, but given the % of PS5/XBS consoles out there without a disc drive one could argue code in box may provide a better opportunity for retailers, particularly those that don't sell used. In any case, can't say this changes anything regarding total sales expectations.
At any rate, I know the internet is always “Nintendo bad”, but this to me says the KeyCard was the best option for all parties involved. People can still sell and trade, and it’s low cost for the publishers.
If anything physical sickos (me) will buy the re-release on disc.
Why would a digital console person buy a code in the box? The whole point of digital is to be less wasteful/not take up space in your house. I don't get it
Oh wow, a box with a download code. Not manual, map, art book, nothing. The future is dumb.
"But you can put it on your shelf." my shelves all full, bitch. Because I like OWNING stuff.
God forbid I own a piece of physical media that can't be ripped from my grasp by infrastructure collapse or y'know, the company just not wanting to upkeep that product on their servers anymore. I wonder what will become of things like heirlooms if we keep denying new physical media to be produced
One of the purest joys for me is getting back into retro and older gaming and seeing that this singular disc has everything I need as well as reading the manual cover to cover for fun. I remember my disappointment when my Fallout 4 collectors edition only had the SPECIAL chart and nothing else.
Physical Editions of GTA 6 Will Come with "A Download Code Inside the Box", Pre-Loads Begin on November 12th.
whoever decided that should reconsider
Honestly, I'm really disappointed in this. I might not preorder, and I might wait until the price goes down or they come to their senses and release a proper physical edition. Two discs is perfectly fine, @rockstargames.com
Plz don't buy it humans
They spend 2 billion Dollars + x for making this game and they don't give it out on physical media? What a joke.
I still wanna play GTA VI, but just...fuck man The economy is such a joke istg

Per Rockstar: "The physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI, containing a download code inside the box, will be available starting November 12 to support pre-loading." 😬
So if preloading is available from November 12 for physical, surely that means tons of people are going to buy copies in stores with no clue they can't play it for a week? My 5-a-side group chat doesn't know or care what preloading means. They'll assume if it's in a box in ASDA then it's "out".
I'm sure absolutely no one will have a problem with this. Also, this was inevitable for about 200 reasons.
We’re getting more and more video games being sold with a download code inside a box instead of a disc. It’s looking bleak.
And you wonder why retro games are taking off in popularity. People. Want. Physical.
Horizon Forbidden West was the first time this happened to me. Bought the collector's edition, love the sick statue it came with but why even bother giving me the steel book if all it has is a download code!
"If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing" is about to becoming a mantra for plenty of gaming circles...
I am not a GTA dude, so I wasn’t getting it anyway, but I will never buy a big game full price digital; it would need to be deep sale or PS+ monthly for me to maybe justify it. I can play my Dreamcast games 26 years later, I will not spend big money on games that can be denied to me at some point.
There’s nothing I hate as a physical game collector more than a code in the box game. It’s just so pointless to me; you may as well just buy it straight from the online store and have the game to play quicker. 😅
