About 400,000 UK children supported by baby banks, charities say
400,000 UK children supported by baby banks, up 11%. 4.5m children living in poverty. Low incomes, rising cost of energy, water, housing, essentials drive poverty. Tories and Reform pledged to reimpose the two-child benefit cap, increase poverty. What future for children and country?
"450,000 kids were lifted out of poverty" by removing the 2 child cap. State Pension is less than half the mimimum wage. 1.9 million live in poverty, with another 1.1million just above, yet the media don't seem to care.
I'm reminded of a recent appearance by Nick Thomas Symonds on BBC R4 Today when asked about how the government will pay for increased defence spending, spoke of the government already having taken difficult spending decisions... cutting Overseas Aid. No Nick, that was an easy decision.
One fair tax system is all it takes to fix this inequality. 😒
