You don't know what it's like to be a Wizards fans. For most of us, the Arenas/Hughes/Jamison years, with first and second round playoff loses, were the best we've had. We don't want a championship. We just want to be slightly better than mediocre. Trae Young gives us that.

Washington didn't even give up a draft pick for Trae Young. McCollum/Kispert are whatever. If Young threatens to sign with Chicago or Brooklyn or whatever if he doesn't get $212M, you tell him 'thanks but no thanks'. And you can tell your fans that it's NBD, it's not like you coughed up a pick.

I've put a lot of energy into defending Trae Young for 8 years, but it's simply malpractice to be out-leveraged by a player whose best years were 4 seasons ago. The process was a tad shaky, but for the best the Hawks moved on, clearly.

Admittedly, I like Trae Young more than most Celtics fans and I think that he signed the worst NBA contract right now at 4 years 53 mil per.

I'm genuinely stunned the Wizards just gave Trae Young 4 yrs for ~$212m. They literally just saw first hand how rock bottom his value was, and decided the problem was he wasn't getting paid enough so you gave him a raise???

I appreciate Giannis giving everyone time to digest that Trae Young contract. I know I still am.
