Ray Davies turns 82, fans celebrate the Kinks songwriter
Happy Birthday to Ray Davies, singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist for the Kinks born in London, England 🏴 82 years ago today. Favourite songs or albums? #RayDavies
Greatest British songwriter of all time IMO. I could list a lot of songs but I'll just say my favorite thing he wrote is probably "Victoria".
All Day And All Of The Night Lola Come Dancing
One of my all time favorite singer/songwriters!!! And, like me, he’s a summer solstice baby! 🌞🌅😎 So many great tunes… Better Days ✨ Celluloid Heroes Come Dancing Lola All Day and All of the Night
Huge fan. I adore this man. His best album is Arthur or Muswell Hillbillies, but my favorite is-
Waterloo sunset - is there anything else for a Londoner??
Favorite song is Lola. I assume its a popular answer.

if i were ray davies and i was writing stuff like this i would’ve been a salty bitch about the beatles too
Ray Davies wrote with a distinctly British voice. Paul Weller also did this ten years later and I think that had something to do with the Jam barely making a dent in states. Waterloo Sunset is the perfect song.
My husband is adamant that the Kinks was the superior band compared to Beatles and Stones. He actually gets mad about it on ray Davies behalf
It's wild to me that "The Kinks > The Beatles" is as hot a take as it is
I was a big Doors head in junior high, and I remember feeling a bit deflated when I learned that one of the Doors two #1 records was basically an inferior version of "All Day and All of the Night"
Can’t remember which one, I think Schlesinger, but one of the Fountains of Wayne guys said he kept trying to write Ray Davies songs & then realized he couldn’t & decided write in his own voice
Look at the two of us both Kinksposting today
