The EastCoastKin tag curates black-and-white coastal dawns, weathered wooden-door portraits and tight macro nature images from photographers around the world. Contributors pair recurring prompts like BirdOfTheDay, ColorADay and InsectThursday with scenes shot in Dublin, Twizel, Tokyo, Portland, Cape Cod and other coastal or urban-edge locations. Submissions range from smartphone castle-lake snaps to Canon R5 500mm bird studies and Nikon macro hoverfly close-ups, showing both amateur and pro approaches. That mix makes EastCoastKin a ready visual archive for photographers interested in monochrome texture, seaside light and intimate nature studies.

The Cape Cod Baseball League is in its 102nd season bringing some of the top college talent to our local area. 1/5 of the MLB is made of alums from this league and a quarter of the MLB draft each year has played here locally.

This macro photo captures a hoverfly suspended beneath a delicate blue flower, feeding on nectar or gathering pollen. The insect clings to the flower’s petals with its slender legs while reaching upward toward the bright yellow anthers, which stand out vividly against the cool blue petals.

The hoverfly’s large reddish-brown compound eyes dominate the frame, drawing immediate attention. Fine hairs covering its thorax catch the light, adding texture and revealing details often overlooked by the naked eye. Its transparent wings, marked with dark bands, extend diagonally across the image and provide a subtle contrast to the soft, blurred background.
