Ukraine strikes Moscow oil refinery for second time this week
Ukraine struck the Kapotnya oil refinery in southeast Moscow early Thursday, Russian officials said, marking the second attack on that facility this week. Moscow’s mayor said air defenses shot down 194 Ukrainian drones during the barrage that disrupted flights, and officials said the refinery supplies about 40 percent of the capital’s gasoline with an annual capacity near 11 million tons. Kyiv frames the strikes as part of a campaign to degrade Russia’s fuel supplies and military logistics; President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the attack and said, "It is time the war ended."
This video appears to confirm it was a Russian air-defense missile — not a Ukrainian drone — that blew up that Moscow refinery’s storage tank today, creating the "flying saucer" footage. (This video was shared on Telegram by Russian military expert Yan Matveev.) t.me/arrowsmap/11...
Maybe even better? They’re destroying their own industry, awesome.
Ukraine still gets all the credit.
This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Ukraine to Russia: “Why are you hitting yourself?”
Vlad’s going to take out the entire board of the Acme Corp.
New all time pinnacle moment in “what Russian air defense doing?”
You'd think that a missile designed to defend the air would hit something that caused less pollution.
If ordinary Muscovites didn't know their War was coming home, then they do now. Just listen to the amount of ordinance being fired into the Moscow sky
I see the tactic of destroying your own infrastructure before your enemy can is still Russia’s fallback strategy… 😂
Either way, a score for Ukraine with an assist from Russia.
Man Russia is getting all kinds of fucked up by Ukraine
Russians gonna be raining out of windows soon.
During the World Cup and Russia, who isn't even playing, scores the biggest own goal of the week.
So…realistically then Ukraine just needs to fly drones over Moscow and let them blow themselves up?
New medal for the missile operator:
Tbf those tanks are easy to blow up.
Wait. ... They blew it up THEMSELVES!? ... Oh ... My!
Pretty spectacular own goal. Somebody's falling out a window soon.
great, the Russians have been using up all their young men who KNOW how to aim, and are stuck with the morons who can't. /headdesk
Legit looks like the old time popcorn things.
In that case, kudos to Russia. I haven’t said that in such a long time
An own goal? By the Russians? Tretiak could never. (Sorry sorry)
I love this for Vlad.
How do we know it's not a Ukranian missile? Not disputing it, just wondering how you can tell?
Blyatnik self owns are the best.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new world champion in the Turret Toss Olympics!
as a biased viewer of that video - it's fucking awesome
Chaos, smoke, and noise. keeps getting louder. 🥁
Hoooly crap. 💥 I feel like the drone must’ve been whistling a happy little tune as exited the scene.
Now That's What I Call Karma.
A drone barrage on Moscow escalates Ukraine’s push to take the war into Russia. It shut down Moscow’s airports for hours in the biggest wave of strikes on the city since the war began. The refinery hit supplies 40% of Moscow’s gasoline. I love the smell of Moscow’s oil burning in the morning.
For years the Kremlin sold this war as something distant that ordinary Russians could ignore. When airports shut down and major infrastructure starts burning near Moscow, that illusion gets a lot harder to maintain. Reality has a way of showing up eventually.
Moscow getting a free trial of the anxiety they've been exporting.
I’m surprised they waited so long to take it to them on this level. Putin and Trump are losers.
Soviet invasion of Afghanistan resulted in country’s breakup. Russian invasion of Ukraine will be Putins demise.
1 MILLION RUSSIAN SOLDIERS HAVE BEEN KILLED IN 4 YEARS OF INVADING UKRAINE !
If you're a Ukrainian kid starting a band, "Drone Barrage", would be a brilliant name! Probably won't get any gigs in Russia though.
Putin started this, and Zelenskyy will finish it.
It's a shame the people of Russia have probably been told Ukraine is the aggressor. Slava Ukraine🇺🇦
To push the ATTACK back to where it is coming from.
Zelenski telling Putin that two can tango.
Dear Russia, There is one, Very Simple Way to stop all of this.
You should show the video when the top gets blown away. My friend's art...
Lol, Putin gonna have to give back Crimea.
It’s a thing of beauty
Putin’s chestnuts roasting on an open fire… Ukraine drones nipping on his toes Russian fear sung by mass
Moscow elites have been isolated from the war their country wages - no mobilization, no casualty reports, no bombings, no inconveniences to daily lives. Now, their war came to them. Burn, motherfucker, burn.
I love this for them
It smells like victory is closer
Vladimir was prepared to fight the last war.
Wonder if Putin has been live on TV to reassure his people. The reality that they are not safe must be dawning on these previously sheltered Muscovites.
Oooh. Vladdy Daddy’s having a bad day. Maybe Putin’s 🐩 Poodle can call and mumble out some sorta distorted, bumbling comfort. #Karma🔥
Let the fuckers burn 🔥
And the people from Moscow I saw in the Dutch news acted like they had been attacked. They’re not, Ukraine is only defending itself from the illegal invasion by Russia and they’re doing it very successfully! Slava Ukraini
Let’s hope it gets even worse for Russia.
The discipline that Ukraine exercises in selecting targets, and not allocating resources to attacks that would be emotionally satisfying but strategically wasteful, is impressive.
Now do Red Square. Seems fitting for the 1,000 year old Ukranian cathedral.
With Biden's moratorium on striking Russia and Turnip's throwing Ukraine under several busses, Zelenskyy decides it's time for Putin to feel pain. May even turn Moscow citizens.
Burn that fucker to the ground.Slava Ukraine
Next Tuesday is going to be another great day for grilling.
Bravo. Ukraine are masters in strategy and war. Unlike our so-called war dept clowns.
Slava Ukraini!!🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 Don’t let up, bring Putin to his bloody knees!
I think I remember some jackass saying Zelensky had no cards to play.
70% for the Moscow region, but yeah it is bad! Including Kerosine for planes! 😂
May all of Russia burn 🔥
It would be nice if the USA 🇺🇸 (re)joined the party
Go Ukraine. Give it to them big time
Firepoint used footage from this morning’s attacks on Moscow’s oil refinery in their booth at the Eurosatory arms expo in Paris. Their drones were used in the attack
We are a remarkably repulsive species.
Maybe Russia should have stayed out of Ukraine..... Just saying....
Yes, it was a nice strike, but any drone hitting any refinery is going to produce some top-notch "CNN moment" imagery. You break something holding petroleum, you add a little explosives, and voila! Billowing flames!
Everybody walking past the booth be like
How can I get me a drone like that? See, there is this place in Florida. . .
yes, the ruZZians are most certainly repulsive... they bomb hospitals, schools, apartments, and churches. Ukraine, while fighting for their very lives and existence fights back by hitting oil refineries to attempt to make it more difficult for the orks to continue attacking them.
It would be the best ad for their drones if they did like a musical drone strike compilation where theyre exploding to the beat
I hope Ukraine continues every day till the russians decide Putin has to go.
“Hey, check out our drones killing Russians” is a good sales pitch.
It's mad that there are expo's where you can go choose what weapons to kill people with Just saying
Huge Ukrainian attack on Russian infrastructure overnight including a second strike on the Moscow oil refinery. Also hit: a railway bridge in Crimea - part of the strategy to cut off the peninsula - and the Gukovo oil depot, according to Ukraine’s General Staff. #explodey
Zelenskyy: “If Ukraine burns, your Moscow will burn too. “If Putin does not want to end this war and wants to continue it, we will not sit quietly. We will respond.”
If Putin didn't know how badly things were going before, he can update his assessment by simply looking out a window at the Kremlin.
A war that drags on is a sign of stupidity. Yes, Putin is an idiot.
A good night for Ukraine 🇺🇦 not so for Putin 🤭
That roof blowing off is quite the visual
It’s 100% toast. Lots of explody videos online because there were lots of drones and air defense missiles. Bringing their war to them. Kind of hard for them to ignore this.
🇺🇦 sanctions work. Best in the world.
If Trump were to change course and back Ukraine fully this invasion could be repelled in the foreseeable future. But sadly the orange felon has used all the weaponry Ukraine needs in his ridiculous war against Iran. This is the greatest disaster in US foreign policy since the Iraq war
This is some most excellent #explodey But do we need a new hashtag? Like #flamey ?
The Ukraine has been blowing up oil refineries in Moscow, and Putin is in hiding. SLAVA UKRAINE! 💛🇺🇦💙💪🔥
Yep Zelenskyy bringing this war to the people who started it!!!
They started winning when they stopped telling the US orange regime about their war plans........
It's time for pootin to hire the orange menace to get him a "good deal".
So I watched Frozen the other day Let it BUUUUURN let it BUUUUUURN Such a beautiful melody
Dear Putin: Come out, come out, wherever you are. Thank you for listening. 🌎 The Entire World.
Ukrainian drones hit a Moscow refinery and disrupted air traffic Thursday in the largest attack on the Russian capital since Russia invaded Ukraine more than four years ago. 🇺🇦🔥
Never thought I’d be cheering on a massive fire
Holy 🐄! Putin must be pissing his pants.
WOW blew the fucking lid off of that one.
12 years ago, Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014.
That’s some 3 day special operation they have themselves there.
Russia now has a real flying saucer.
It's a shame that The Kremlin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Otherwise Kyiv could target it. In the same way that Putain bombed the Ukrainian UNESCO Listed Cathedral. Oh...
I’m trying to think of the last war in which Moscow was bombed at all since WWII. About time that Muscovites reap what Russia has been sowing for decades.
According to monitoring channels, during the attack on the Moscow oil refinery, drones struck a unit considered the main hub of the entire facility.
And these are not all the results of the strikes. Experts call this unit the "heart" of the plant because it accounts for half of the entire Moscow refinery's capacity.
Yet again, we have to thank residents of Moscow for providing detailed video footage of where and how the Ukrainian drones were successful, and posting it on the internet. True stupidity can only succeed through ingorance.
The refinery is completely out of operation for weeks and will certainly have only limited capacity for months—always assuming, of course, that Ukraine doesn't come calling again.
it stopped production after the June 16th strikes, 2 hits and one Russian watching counted 15 this morning
Moscow Oil Refinery looks especially good after the visit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The foreground and the background is just perfect. Just perfect
I don't know that type of cloud formation - what is it called?
If ever a brief video captured what an utter shit show Russia is….
The election of the Pope is taking a bit longer.🤡
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck the Moscow oil refinery again on June 18 in coordination with SSO, GUR, SBU and other defense units. The refinery ranks among Russia’s 10 largest, with capacity of 11 million tons of oil per year, and supports fuel supplies for military logistics. #Ukraine
I'm failing to see the problem..
Reuters reported that Russia imports gasoline now. "June 17 (Reuters) - Russia is set to import fuel by sea this month as it seeks to manage a gasoline shortage following extensive drone attacks on its refineries, four industry sources said." www.reuters.com/business/ene...
"Something the world had never seen before"....
The oil refining industry in Russia is really booming right now!
The turret toss videos were quite something but this?? This takes the toss to a whole new level. And in Mooscow too of all the places.
Burn baby burn. Very heart warming stuff, lads.
🚀❗️ Russia Depletes Air Defense Missile Stocks Due to Constant Ukrainian Drone Strikes — CBS News ➡️ Russia has reduced its stockpiles, using scarce S-300 missiles to strike ground targets in Ukraine. AFU are forcing the enemy to spend expensive missiles to intercept massive waves of new drones.
➡️ Ukrainian forces are purposefully destroying Russian air defense systems in Crimea and other occupied territories. ➡️ Due to Western sanctions, Moscow has significant difficulties importing key components (control modules and homing heads) from Western countries and China.
Any strikes now, even on smaller depots containing AA missiles, can cause even bigger problems for them than they already are.
Something that is often forgotten, regarding sanctions circumvention, even if carried out by the RUS, it costs them enormous sums (several tens of billions per year!), in addition to their regular budget! So the sanctions are significant even if they are circumvented.
When some say that Russia is any way near being ready to attack Nato, they are not telling the truth. Russia will need a decade just to be ready to defend itself conventionally. And attack is out of the question.
Russian SAM's do better hitting Russian buildings and oil tanks. Todays attacks have film showing Russian SAM's hitting several buildings and the oil tank top toss contest.
I like how both the current and former world superpowers invited themselves to learn the hard way, that you can't counter [asymmetric] drone warfare with conventional munitions. Spending tens of millions per shot to shoot a sub-$1m drone down is never gonna work.
VERY BIG TOP NEWS TODAY 🔝 🔥 Defense forces hit the Moscow Oil Refinery again. 🔥 Gukovo, Rostov Region. An oil depot was attacked. 🔥 Road bridge over the Kalka River near Granitne in the Donetsk region, as well as the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal near Rozdolne in Crimea. 1/8
❗️Palkino oil pumping station, the destruction of seven tanks with a total volume of 95 thousand m³ was confirmed. ❗️Kotovsky oil preparation and pumping shop in the Volgograd region, damage to three RVS-2000 tanks and a section of the oil pipeline was confirmed. 2/8
Hard to say if Russias biggest problem is Crimea, Moscow or falling oil prices because of Iran deal.
Wow, what a busy day. Thanks for your great service MAKS. I really like your daily summary. Stay safe mate.
Just love these memes. I notice that the lids on ruSSian oil storage tanks when they are hit, fly skywards nearly as high that the turrets of ruSSian tanks do when they are hit.
HERE IT IS .. video show track of defense missile going right into the tank.
I recommend you download that pic and use it as a desktop image. I did, and I cannot stop smiling...
Black rain falls on Moscow after a massive drone attack on its biggest oil refinery.
Bringing back that classic soviet gray look
Now they can tank their cars 😂
I hope your breakfast this morning was a happier occasion knowing that Moscow is starting to feel the war they started as well 😉
That’s massive environmental pollution. They can thank putin.
Ukraine launches largest drone attack on Moscow since start of Russia's full-scale invasion, hits oil refinery; European Council explores opening communication channels with Kremlin; Kyiv denies Russian claim that Ukrainian drone struck bus carrying Belarusian children's football team; and more.
This is exactly why I subsribe to your Newsletter. Accurate reporting about the war. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦. Also, Russia is a terrorist state.
Hello Kremlin? This is the European Council calling…are we reaching….click. They keep hanging up… (Pink Floyd reference)
hats off to the Ukrainians, who have wrecked the Kapotnya oil refinery in Moscow for the second day in a row.
The scale of the damage is pretty incredible. As you can imagine, the main Russian milbloggers are pretty silent about Ukraine's strikes. (Probably the most extensive and successful to date.)
Nice work, everybody. Take the rest of the day off.
Now end this war! #SlavaUkraine
Recreating the saucer-coming-through-clouds scene from Independence Day, but entirely with practical effects.
"It's unfair for Ukraine to be sending drones to attack oil infrastructure in Moscow, but Ukraine deserves all the drone strikes it gets because it should have surrendered years ago" is some nasty Putin propaganda, actually.
I'm reading "oh just wait till putin loses his patience" a lot. so delusional and in for a big suprise in 2026.
the logic is genuinely deranged when you lay it out like that. Ukraine gets drones dropped on it DESERVEDLY but also it's UNFAIR when they send drones back. the word 'unfair' doing so much work when what they mean is 'we preferred it when only one side got bombed'
