Epic unveils Unreal Engine 6 plans, built‑in generative AI tools revealed
WITH UNREAL ENGINE 6, YOU CAN LAY OFF EMPLOYEES 45% MORE EFFICIENTLY
I just saw a second of this ue6 live stream with the dude saying "Unreal Engine is competing with prediction markets" I'm so tired boss
all for the CONTENT baby let's go CONTENT
i'm so excited to see how sega optimizes their games by practically tearing the entire unreal engine apart and deleting 90% of it with UE6 like crossworlds did with UE5
It's Unreal how much bullshit Epic is cramming into this thing
It’s actually insane how many companies are gonna go under when the AI bubble bursts
UE5 is already a pain in the ass to compile when you do everything right. “Now we’re adding Mario Party dice to the engine that sometimes forgets your connected files exist” is the best way to convince me not to “upgrade”
it used to be called unreal because it was now it's just a misnomer
Yoooooooo Unreal is going into complete dogshit!!!
I've already pretty much written off AAA, but if an indie studio chooses UE6 or Unity over Godot, I'll be reconsidering my purchase.
Will never cease to amaze me how it's well established all of these tools suck absolute fucking ass and every industry ever has clung onto them anyway.
And dry up lakes even more quickly.
Makes it real easy to never buy a UE6 game. I don't have tondo any research to find out if a studio used a slop generator, now I just know they don't have any artistic decency.
What UE6, they haven't even made UE5 to work on modern computers! 🙄
'The road to Unreal Engine 6' - www.unrealengine.com/news/the-roa... "for UE6, we see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need."
Translation: It is going to run like dogshit, even on top end hardware. If you think UE5 was bad even on a 50-series card, UE6 would ask you to hold its beer. Except all the water needed to make beer went to data centers instead.
i'm not reading all that because it's not going to survive the bubble popping
The rollout of even more AI in game development paradoxically means gaming is getting much cheaper for me. Because I'm going to skip out on all this GenAI shitslop.
Godot is free and many newer hit indie titles like Slay the Spire 2 were made in Godot. So if folks are holding back because 'its not as mature as UE', that's clear bullshit and skill issue.
I’m so ready to just play less and less games in the future honestly. The industry is literally in self destruction mode and if you needed any more proof that video games are not seen as an art form, even from within the belly itself, this is it right here. At least there’s been pushback within film
before, i skipped ue5 games because they usually looked bad. now i can skip anything that says it’s made with ue6 without even looking at it. thanks tim!
I don’t understand the end game here for developers. If in ten years the technology develops to where small indie groups can generate the same AAA slop as your studios, then what do we need your studios for? It’s a race to the bottom.
What happened with 5, lmao Seems like not many games made with that.
Sounds fucking dog shit, gang
Unreal and Unity have been such valuable marketing for Godot
"We vibe coded the entire thing"
Finally, a game engine that automatically generates its own fan backlash
I would say Unreal had a good run, but it's been pretty shit ever since UE4.
It's comical how awful Unreal 5 already is and they said "you haven't seen anything yet"
Makes it easy to just never play anything made on unreal engine 6.
further sloppification AND making their dogshit scripting lang the standard for game code??? oh my fucking god lmfao
Oh god theyre still trying to make nfts function
i imagine UE5 will have a LONG shelf life in the near future
Well that's good, because the central problem with Unreal 5 was that it wasn't dogshit enough.
"Yes gamers, with these advancements, the games will be even less optimized! The game mechanics, art, story, and music will all be even easier to slopify! The bugs will be so bad that they put launch era Cyberpunk 2077 to shame! Please give us $80."
lol, hopefully this marks the end of unreal engine and more in-house solutions. But I doubt it because we live in a stupid society run by talentless hacks where creativity and artistry is looked down upon.
I dislike the word "content" but that is the perfect word to use for the slop that AI makes. Its not "art" but "content"
Actively rooting for your failure Epic Games!!!
AI Disclosure: Unreal Engine 6
So, you can code your game with slop, generate poor assets, generate hollow music, generate heartless dialogue and writing and then with the "power" of dlss5 you can - just to keep it interesting - slather your instagram AI filter slop on top of your AI asset slop too? AI needs to fuck off forever.
Seems like a lot of words to say "We're going to sell you less, for more, so that we can fire more people."
Capcom could probably make a lot of money licensing out the RE engine.
Ok this was not difficult to predict
What a great advertisement for Godot Game Engine
They spent like half an hour explaining to the crowd why it was a good thing that you can ask a chat bot to fully and irreparably change everything in your scene without rhyme or reason.
I'm not paying for their Chat-GPT Tokens, generated slop has no value no matter how much they try and rent seek value out of it.
I feel like im going insane. Does anyone actually want this? Or is it just the rich few who dont want to have to actually pay an artist for creating something for them?
They could've made Unreal 5 good instead, but they chose this.
Wow, it’s unreal that Unreal would go in this direction… oh wait I’m sick and tired of this AI slopfest, pop the fucking bubble already
"LLMs" "Generative AI Models" "Claude" "Codex" "Content" I'm tired boss....
Tim Sweeney just hates humanity that much.
Time for more open source engines, this one is done
They don't even calling it games anymore, it's fucking content to them
Oh boy. Just when we were thinking UE5 is completely dogshit, they come out with "no, no, we can make a new one that's worse!"
from the UE subreddit, i thought this comment captured the vibe well. UE6 seems less like a game engine and more like a slop renderer.
Unreal and Epic are garbage tier companies
Unreal 5 came out 4 years ago btw 💀
Current gen systems can't even handle UE5, but I guess we gotta fast track to all that AI bullshit.
Good to know. Anything made in UE6 can be avoided.
so now all games made with ue6 are on my ban list by default? cool.
Excited to see other engines used or made
genuine question, what's the likely hood of them back porting this AI stuff to Unreal 5 and 4? I feel there's been no reason to move on from Unreal 4 and this just kinda cements it more honestly
Godot looking more and more like the only way to go for my own projects
GET THIS AI SLOP AWAY FROM ME
A reminder that Sakurai along with Bandai made their own in house game engine not just for Kirby Air Riders but also so they can use same engine on future titles. With Capcom already done the same with RE engine, maybe we will see more big game studios do the same while indies use Godot or Unity.
I see me not buying games made in their dogshit pigfucking subhuman slopmachine
theyve heard our feedback about Unreal Engine Slop and decided to go all in
Ah yes vibe coded non functioning games will surely will bring profit right? Gods who wrote this PR drivel? AI too maybe?
Well, we've reached the point where I'm just done with new video games if this takes off, I guess. At least my backlog is big enough to last the rest of my life as it is.
not to mention theyre putting rocket league into ue6, brother i dont want to alarm you but this will be the biggest downfall of my fav game and i HATE IT!!!! its never been so over...
they delisted unreal tournament from every storefront for this
It's easy to never start a UE6 based game. Even more easy because no body is able to afford a new gaming pc or console. 🤷🏻
What fascinates me is that they are *still* pushing the Metaverse concept. That's what they mean when they talk about assets and code working across games; Rebranded Metaverse talking points.
This is where patient gamers and backlog gamers pull ahead. We got more games than remaining lifespan and none of this unoptimized slop to deal with. 💙
I notice they're using the Resident Evil 6 color scheme. I just think that's an interesting coincidence given the usage of the plagiarism machine
This is hype marketing for Anthropic's IPO. Also this is a PROJECT, not a product. Solid chance it doesn't survive until its slated, late 2027 release, if any of the hype bubble rumbles.
Into the incinerator with it.
I wonder what the last new game I'll buy will be
Cool, so avoid any game that uses dogshit unreal engine. Noted 🙂↕️
How about: Fuck no, instead? How about Fuck you, how about that?
tim sweeney fall off your horse
Nintendo having to drop Unreal Engine immediately after they started using it:
Why do these goons insist on pushing this shit when nobody likes or wants it 😭
Epic Games is wasting money on implementing AI into their game engine and it is going to be a dumpster fire! 🔥 Good thing Nintendo had a backup plan, human creators! :)
The current video game development landscape has been amazing for my wallet.
"wtf unreal engine 6 will have llm!!!" what the fuck did you guys expect 😭😭
it's a product from a big corporation worse yet, it's epic worse yet, tim sweeney
Linux + Godot (or bevy in my case) + blender/aseprite for gamedev is 🧑🍳💋 No evil corporations necessary; cross compiling is easy from Linux to other OS'es or architectures. Except when it comes to consoles, that is a challenge I haven't solved yet
