Alan set today's Bird Of The Day theme 'In Flight' with 'Blur Birds' as the alternate under the ECK (East Coast Kin) tag. Submissions covered a wide range of species and places, from an immature Ruby-throated Hummingbird on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, to a Grey Heron fly-past in Dublin, a Swallow-tailed Kite in Bonita Springs, Florida, and a puffin from the Farne Islands. Photographers submitted images made with everything from a 1980s manual-focus telephoto and a ten-year-old DSLR to modern mirrorless bodies and phone cameras, often leaning into motion blur and black-and-white processing.
