Final Fantasy Resonance devs explain HD-2D approach in new video
Square Enix released a behind-the-scenes video in which executive producer Tomoya Asano breaks down Final Fantasy Resonance's HD-2D art, music, and combat design. The team demonstrates how HD-2D pairs classic pixel sprites with modern 3D lighting and layered visual effects, explains the soundtrack direction, and outlines a reworked turn-based combat system that emphasizes tactical positioning. Resonance is listed for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with a Switch 2 retail listing surfacing in preorders, and the Digital Deluxe edition includes a Magitek Armor Key cosmetic for your chocobo mount. The video matters because it positions Resonance as a ground-up reimagining of Brave Exvius that aims to marry nostalgia with contemporary production values.
#blutoid PSA: If you're interested in Final Fantasy Resonance like I am, be advised that the Switch 2 version is being advertised as a Game Key Card. But, there's also a regular switch version too.
Jeez are posts that say "p$a" being targeted by bots? Be careful with all of these accounts asking for help ... Sad to say, most if not all are bots, I suspect
SE has yet to offer a single game on Switch 2 that isn’t a keycard, even the S2 games that aren’t coming to S1. There is no excuse. Until I see otherwise, I have to believe it’s never going to give us a full game on card again. And so, all its upcoming games get moved to the discount bin in my mind.
