Disclosure Day opens to a $44M weekend; Spielberg and Emily Blunt praised

Disclosure Day was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Thrills, wonder, mystery, and the gift of another John Williams score (the man is 94!) which alone was worth the price of admission. If you like classic Spielberg, go see it.

Saw Disclosure Day over the weekend and really enjoyed it! I can also see why Spielberg’s plea for empathy might not resonate at this point in time, but the legend’s still got it:

As an alien encounter script DISCLOSURE DAY needed some more ironing out, but as a piece of filmmaking it's proof that Spielberg -- like Scorsese, like Michael Mann -- continues to take real swings in his last decades.
