Blue Sky Art Show, theme 'Through the frame'
The Blue Sky Art Show issued the prompt "Through the frame," and contributors submitted framed compositions from a Queen of the Night blossom in Norwich, Vermont to a backlit thistle, a night-time triple-reflection street photograph, and a portrait of the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. Entries span photography, illustration, and short animation and emphasize framing techniques such as reflections, doorways, natural frames like the rock path at Chiricahua National Monument, and long exposures at Pismo Beach. Subjects range from wildlife, an anhinga preening, a juvenile sharp-shinned hawk, and a black-necked stilt, to urban views like Downtown NYC from Newark Bay, showing both intimate nature study and geometric cityscapes. The prompt spotlights how framing choices change narrative and composition, offering a quick how-to gallery for photographers and illustrators looking to deepen their visual storytelling.
This may look like an alien space monster, but it's actually the nocturnal blossom of a Queen of the Night. Details in alt text. Norwich VT, June 2026 #ECK #Photography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PaintByWords #Bloomscrolling #Flowers #Stunday
Great shot and great name. Reminds me of my wife's Hooker's Orchid Cactus. Another night bloomer with a great name.
Beautiful, particularly against that dark background, Professor.
That is gorgeous! So… *indoors*, in Norwich?
What a beautiful and unique flower; you captured it so well, which must have been challenging!
Well done, Alex! So beautiful 🤍

Juxtaposition — Purely By Chance I went for a run yesterday. A summerlike Saturday. Took 📷s of a blackberry plant. With my dying cellphone. Cracked screen & covered with black blobs. It was Point, Click & Hope. A few inches completely changed the 📷 focus. #Olympia l #Stunday l #Scape l #ECK
Good ole bluesky algorithm. I replied to a post about blackberries, yesterday. Now it's going to be All Blackberries, All The Time.
When my kids were still in school, we used to wade along the river bank, picking Blackberries, stuffing our faces, staining our hands + cheeks. Then we'd go home + make a Bisquick Cobbler. My babies are all around 50 now but I can still see their Cherry Cheeks + goofy smiles. Sweet image.
