Celebrated artist David Hockney dies at 88

David Hockney, the British painter famed for his Los Angeles pool paintings and pioneering digital work, died at 88. He created landmark works such as A Bigger Splash and in 2020 painted the 90-meter A Year in Normandie during lockdown, capturing light and space on an epic scale. Late in his career Hockney embraced technology, producing iPad drawings and digital prints that expanded painting beyond traditional canvas.
